The National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport (NUUPES) is a leading educational, scientific and sports institution. The main kinds of activities are: educational, scientific, scientific-technical, cultural-educational, sports, recreational. The University deals with the fundamental and applied problems in elite sports, physical education and mass-scale sport, develops the standards of the system of physical education for different groups of people and carries out research into personality development, the formation of values for a healthy lifestyle among Ukrainian youth, physical rehabilitation of disabled persons.

There are several scientific schools, postgraduate and doctoral studies. The University has a strong research and teaching staff. About 3000 students receive an education at 21 departments at 4 faculties at the University.
