Bayburt University, one of the youngest Universities of Türkiye, was established on 31 May 2008, and its mission is not only to prepare its students as leaders for a responsible life that produces, shares and presents knowledge for the benefit of society but also to improve the social, cultural and economic gains of the people of the region and the country through quality education, research and service programmes.

Bayburt University carries out education, research, and project activities with its 16 thousand students in 9 faculties, 5 colleges, and 13 research and application centres, with a competent staff of approximately 500 academic and 500 administrative staff in 4 different campuses. It is listed in the Q1 quartile by Scimago and has a respected position in Türkiye and among the world universities. The university, which puts the principles of innovation, quality, student orientation and social benefit at the centre of its quality policies, is also taking essential steps in internationalisation.
