EOSE membership structure has been revised in 2007 and now offers the possibility for Observatoires, other organisations and individual experts from the Sport and Active Leisure sector in Europe to be involved within the association as official members. Indeed, we have developped 5 categories of membership to accomodate all the different interested organisations and individuals from the sector which are working on the topics in line with our mission.
The voluntary structure of EOSE and its membership guidelines have evolved since the creation of the organisation with the main objective to establish an adapted mechanism to gather national observatories within each country of the European Union. The ideal “National Observatoire”, as presented in the figure below, can be considered as a structure with strong links and recognition with the Sport Movement, Government Bodies, Social Partners, the National Statistic Office and Training Providers.
The concept of a National Observatoire (EOSE, 2009)
NOSE concepts may vary depending of the specificities and particularities of each member state but National Observatoires need to have a research capacity and background in the field of sport employment and be ready to collaborate with the European activity to apply common research methodologies and collect comparable data from the sector at the national level.
In some cases, the creation and support to Regional Observatories of Sport and Employment (ROSE) may also be fostered by EOSE.
