04/04/2010 - EU SPORT FORUM 2010 - 19/20 April 2010, Madrid (Spain)
The European Commission will organise the second EU Sport Forum on Monday 19 April and Tuesday 20 April 2010 in Madrid (Spain) as foreseen within the 2007 White Paper on Sport. The Forum is a key annual event in the framework of the structured dialogue on sport at EU level and it is going to be held in close connection with the Informal EU Sport Ministers meeting under the Spanish EU Presidency.
03/04/2010 - NEW EUROPEAN PROJECT - ALL FOR SPORT FOR ALL "Perspective of sport for people with a disability in Europe"
A new European project entitled “ALL FOR SPORT FOR ALL: Perspectives of sport for people with a disability in Europe” conjointly run by the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) and the European Paralympic Committee (EPC) has officially started on 01st of March 2010.
20/03/2010 - STUDY ON SPORT AGENTS IN THE EU: Executive summary and final chapter now available in English
As stated in our Bulletin of December 2009, as a follow-up to the Action 41 in the "Pierre de Coubertin" Action Plan annexed to the White Paper on Sport, the “Study on Sports Agents in the European Union” was awarded by the Commission to a consortium composed of KEA European Affairs, the CDES and EOSE, in order to provide an overview of the activities of players' agents in the EU and an evaluation of whether action at EU level is necessary.
 
The results of the Study on Sports Agents in the EU were so far only available in French.
 
English translation has been managed and the following parts of the study are now also available in English:
The main results and recommendations were presented during the Meeting of Directors General for Sport which took place in Barcelona (Spain) on 25 and 26 February 2010.

15/03/2010 - OLYMPIC MOVEMENT: Position Paper "Sport & Lisbon Treaty"
The Olympic Movement, led by the International Olympic Committee, together with sports federations like international football federation FIFA and the International Rugby Board (IRB) tabled its priorities for implementing the new EU competence on sport and presented a position paper detailing the various rules which, they argue, "define the framework of the specific nature of sport and guarantee stable and balanced sporting competitions as well as their integrity". The paper lists a series of examples of rules and principles that should be safeguarded and thus deserve "specific treatment" when considering their compliance with EU law.
