Among the 18 projects selected under the 2009 call for proposals of the Preparatory Action in the field of sport we are really pleased to inform you that the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) together with the European Paralympics Committee (EPC) developed a successful application called “All for Sport for All: “Perspectives of Sport for People with a Disability in Europe”.

The project is going to start on 01/03/2010 and it aims to assess progress and highlight the future direction and perspectives for sport for people with a disability in Europe through several characteristics, such as participation, workforce, national policies, infrastructure and events. The project has the objective to contribute to better access to a wide network of opportunities in sport for people with a disability, in order to build self-confidence, motivation and learning skills through sport so that citizens and young people with disabilities can lead more independent lives.

The project will also target to develop the experience and awareness of able-bodied young people and adults with respect to people with a disability, to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, to promote positive attitudes within the population and to withdraw any obstacles and barriers to increase opportunities for sport participation.

Desk research, fact sheets, guidelines and recommendations through a strategic action plan as well as the exploration of the feasibility for the establishment of a Strategic Working Group on Sport for People with disability will provide best overview in regards of any further action towards those goals within the next years.

Further elements regarding that project will be available on the EOSE website.
