28/11/2009 - EU SUPPORTS 18 TRANSNATIONAL PROJECTS IN THE FIELD OF SPORT
The 2009 call for proposals of the Preparatory Action in the field of sport was published on 15 May 2009. The deadline for applications was 31 August 2009. In total, 207 applications were received. Applications were evaluated according to the eligibility, selection and award criteria detailed in the text of the call for proposals. Following this evaluation, the Commission decided to finance 18 projects with a total amount of € 4 million.

This call for proposals supports transnational projects put forward by public bodies or civil society organisations in order to identify and test suitable networks and good practices in the field of sport.

  • 9 are for promoting health-enhancing physical activity;
  • 4 for promoting education and training in sport;
  • 2 for promoting European fundamental values by encouraging sport for persons with disabilities;
  • 3 for promoting gender equality in sport.
The main objective of the Preparatory Action is to prepare future EU actions in the field of sport after the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty.

We are really pleased to inform you that the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) together with the European Paralympics Committee (EPC) developed a successful application called “All for Sport for All”. The project is going to start on 01/03/2010 and details will be given in the next EOSE E-Bulletin. Feel free to contact EOSE Secretariat if you want to obtain further information about that project.
