19/09/2009 - EU ONLINE SURVEY TOWARDS THE MAPPING OF SPORTS VOLUNTEERING
Voluntary sports clubs and voluntary work play a significant role in social and cultural life in Europe, and voluntary activity forms the basis for the organisation, administration and implementation of sport activities in most Member States in the European Union.

Building on the Aarhus Declaration on Voluntary Work in Sport that was agreed by the EU-15 sports ministers in November 2003 and is confirming the importance and necessity ensuring that the role of voluntary work in sport must be maintained, now the European Commission, Directorate General for Education and Culture (DG EAC), and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), have recently launched a study on volunteering in the EU.

The aim of this online survey is to find out the views of sport organisations (e.g. clubs) on various issues related to the key trends and problems they face in the recruitment, retention, replacement of volunteers, as well as the way the regulatory framework in place affects volunteering in sport in their country.
