After two successful years of preparatory action in sport, in early 2011 the European Commission launched the third and final call for proposals in order to prepare future EU actions in the field of sport, based on the priorities set in the 2007 White Paper on Sport and as modified by the 2011 Communication on Developing the European Dimension in Sport.
The call aimed to support transnational projects put forward by public bodies or not-for-profit organisations in order to identify and test suitable networks and good practices in the field of sport, in the following areas: (a) Prevention of and fight against violence and intolerance in sport, and (b) Promoting innovative approaches to strengthen the organisation of sport in Europe.
From 106 applications received, the European Commission decided to finance the following twelve projects:
A. Prevention of and fight against violence and intolerance in sport
B. Promoting innovative approaches to strengthen the organization of sport in Europe
Under the leadership of the EU Office of the European Olympic Committees, the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment is part of the network for the
Sport 4 Good Governance – S4G² project. The main objective of the S4G
2 project is to support the implementation of good governance principles within sport organizations in Europe by probing the present situation of their implementation, raising awareness on the issue and providing practical guidance on good governance principles and their implementation.
