09/04/2009 - INFORMAL MEETING OF DIRECTORS GENERAL FOR SPORT
Czech Republic took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1st January 2009 and will hold the six-month rotating presidency of the European Union, organising and chairing EU summits (European Councils) and meetings of the bloc's Council of Ministers.
 
The Informal Meeting of Directors General for Sport will be organised by the Czech Republic Presidency on 28th and 29th of April 2009 in Prague. During the 2 days, the results of the French Presidency and the European developments regarding sport will be presented, and several working sessions will be organised on specific issues such as “Sport and Health”, “Fight against doping”, “Economic and Sport”, “Non profit Sport”, “Volunteering” and “Education, Training and Qualification”. The detailed programme is going to be published in the coming days on the official website of the Czech Presidency.
 
EOSE has been invited to attend the event and will make a presentation during the working session “Education, Training and Qualification” on the main issues, developments and challenges regarding Vocational Education and Training in the Sport and Active Leisure sector in Europe. This important event will gather together Sport Directors from the 27 EU member states, the Czech Republic Presidency, the Council of Europe, the European Commission (DG EAC and Sport Unit) and some national experts from Czech Republic.
